System requirements
Slicer runs on many Linux platforms, but may have incompatibility with some distributions. If the precompiled version of Slicer doesn't run on your machine, please try building from source (below). System requirements Slicer requires 1GB of RAM absolute minimum, with more highly recommended. A fast graphics card or GPU that supports OpenGL is also recommended.

Previous stable release: Slicer3
Slicer3 is the previous version of 3D Slicer. It is a mature software platform with a large user base. While most development efforts have shifted over to Slicer4, Slicer3 continues to be maintained.
