The next generation Slicer application (Version 3.0) is under development. Slicer 3.0 is a significant break from previous versions of Slicer. The architecture has been significantly improved, focused on making it easy for users and application developers to add new modules to the system. New capabilities include an improved GUI, automatic GUI generation from XML descriptions of plug-in modules, Undo capability, a new data model, interface to grid computing tools, support for 3D widgets.
